The Teessiders made nine new signings across the summer and January transfer windows, some on loan and some on permanent deals. We take a closer look at the players who have arrived at the Riverside over the last year and how they fared – scroll down and flick through the pages to make your own assessments:
1. Tomas Mejias - from Omonia Nicosia (free transfer)
Made just two appearances all season, both in the FA Cup against Tottenham. After impressing in the original tie at the Riverside, Mejias, 31, made a glaring error in the replay. He was third choice for most of the campaign. Photo: Mike Hewitt
2. Marcus Browne - from West Ham (undisclosed fee)
The only attacking player Boro signed last summer. Browne, 22, showed a few flashes of his ability but didn't quite look upto Championship standard. He was loaned back out to Oxford for the second half of the campaign. Photo: Getty Images
3. Marc Bola - from Blackpool (undisclosed fee)
Another player who struggled to adapt to the Championship. Bola, 22, made seven league appearances for Boro before he was loaned out to former club Blackpool in January. Photo: Getty Images
4. Anfernee Dijksteel - from Charlton (undisclosed fee)
The best of Boro's summer signings but also endured a difficult start. Dijksteel, 23, missed several months with a long-term knee injury which he suffered in November but did return at the end of the campaign and impressed under Neil Warnock. Photo: Clive Brunskill
