“I’m happy with what we did, we needed strengthening and we feel we have done that with Luke James and Josh Laurent,” said Moore.

“We’ve tried and made bids, people must be fed up of us saying that.

“We’ve not just been sitting with our feet up.

“We are trying to improve the side and bring in better lads to help the players we’ve got.

“The loan window will open, but the rules allow us to only play five.

“We will look to see where we think we need strengthening but checking on what players are available, that is the important thing.

“We have a biggish squad now, so one or two will have to go out on loan to get games.

“You look at the striker and midfield situation, we have a lot of bodies, but we’ll see what happens there when the window opens.”

Laurent has trained with Pools following his free transfer from Sky Bet Championship outfit Brentford. He is in contention for a place in tomorrow’s squad but Moore explains he may be a long-term project.

“Josh is a young kid, just learning his trade really,” he said.

“He has a good engine on him and likes to get box-to-box. The opportunity came to get him in, but does he start straight away or do we let him get to know us and develop him?

“But when a player becomes available and we feel he’s right for the club then we take them.”
