Voice opinion

I see that Hartlepool MP Iain Wright is planning on carrying on his policy of whining in his weekly Mail column.

In his summation of facts (Mail, January 14) he follows the Labour Party line, blame everything and anything on the current Government, and whines on about how it is cruel and unfair to working women and their entitlement to state pensions.

May I remind him that it was his Labour Government that passed a new law in 2007 which introduced the changes to women’s retirement age, state pension entitlement and when they become eligible for the winter fuel allowance and free bus pass.

The current Tory Government is simply complying with the laws introduced by a Labour government.

However, to change the subject, would our MP please inform his constituents when he plans to hold meetings throughout the town to analyse their feelings towards the forthcoming in/out referendum on the European Union.

I am sure that there are many people, and businesses, within Hartlepool who have a view on this subject and would like their voices and opinions known.

It would also be nice to know that when the referendum eventually comes about if Mr Wright will vote in accordance with the wishes and desires of his constituents or ignore the people of Hartlepool and follow the party line.

It is going to be very interesting to see which path Iain Wright chooses to follow.

Edward Powell,

Birchill Gardens,

Hartlepool.
