Hartlepool RNLI team go to the rescue of boat after breakdown on River Tees

The town’s crew were paged at 1.35pm today, Tuesday, July 7, by Humber Coastguard to assist a 17ft boat with two people on board.
It reported the vessel had suffered mechanical failure near the Redcar Ore Terminal on the River Tees.

Hide AdHartlepool inshore lifeboat Solihull and its team launched at 1.41pm and were alongside the casualty vessel at 1.56pm.
It was then towed upriver to a slipway at the Tees Barrage.
The inshore lifeboat returned the Ferry Road lifeboat station at 4.30pm and was refuelled and made ready for service by 4.45pm
Inshore lifeboat helm Mark Barker said: “This was a straight forward tow job up the River Tees which is something we train for on a regular basis and we were glad to assist the two people on the boat.”
