Man arrested and three police vehicles damaged after early morning crash in Hartlepool

Officers had followed the BMW within the Hartlepool area after it failed to stop for local response officers.
The car then allegedly collided with three marked police vehicles and caused damage before stopping in Catcote Road.

Hide AdPolice have said a 46-year-old man, said to have been driving the BMW, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.
The incident happened early on Sunday, July 18.
Cleveland Police said: “A BMW which had allegedly failed to stop for local response police units was then followed by officers from Cleveland and Durham Special Operations Unit within the Hartlepool area in the early hours of Sunday, July 18.
“It reportedly collided with three marked police vehicles causing damage and stopped on Catcote Road. The 46-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, of dangerous driving and of failing to stop for police.
“He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.”
